Register your student for the Winter Academy online beginning October 15, 2025 through our online enrollment portal. Online enrollment closes on December 2, 2025. Students will receive their confirmation letters during the week of December 15, 2025.

Keep the learning going this winter break! The LAUSD Winter Academy, happening January 5–9, 2026, gives students a chance to review important skills, explore new topics in a fun and engaging way, and start the new semester feeling confident and ready to learn! Important Details:
- Students should come to school dressed in their costumes.
- Bring a change of clothes for after the parade.
- No weapon props allowed.
🏆 Costume Contest:
The spookiest, most original, and funniest costumes will win a prize in each grade level! Come celebrate Halloween with us and show off your creativity!

School Site Council Meeting

We invite all parents and community members to join us for our School Site Council (SSC) meeting on Monday, October 27th, at 3:00 p.m. on Zoom. Zoom ID 825 7567 9047. During our meeting, we will review our SSC bylaws and look closely at our School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to see if we reached our goals for the 2024–2025 school year. We will also review our Family Engagement Policy, the School-Family Compact for Cardenas Elementary, and take a look at our attendance data. Your input is valuable as we make decisions that support our students’ academic success. We hope to see you there!

ELAC Meeting

We invite all parents and community members to join us for our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting on Thursday, October 23rd, at 8:30 a.m. in the Parent Center, Room 14.
During our meeting, we will talk about the importance of attendance, review our ELAC bylaws, and look at our data for English Learners and attendance for the 2024–2025 school year. We will also review our Family Engagement Policy and the School-Family Compact for Cardenas Elementary.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR!

Exciting news! From October 21–24, Cardenas Elementary School will host the Scholastic Book Fair in our school library. The fair will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and classes will visit throughout the day.
